Barrel Length: 18 1/2″

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade, dovetailed to the integral barrel band. The rear sight has been removed. The top of the receiver is mounted with a Tasco EXP 3-9x scope with a duplex reticle. The glass in the scope is clear. The scope shows light wear, and the finish of the scope is sticky with leftover adhesive from an unknown source. Overall, the scope rates in Fair condition. The scope is mounted directly to the receiver by 1″ Ruger rings.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece smooth wood stock, with a semi-pistol grip, straight comb, plastic crescent buttplate, and sling studs front and rear. There is a Ruger LaserMax laser barrel band, that also features two accessory rails on the right and left sides. The laser functions as it should. The LOP measures 13 3/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock shows light wear, with a few minor dings and compressions scattered throughout. The stock’s finish is intact throughout. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Very Good condition. There is a metal heat shield that has been screwed into the stock.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: 1x 9rd Ruger magazine, in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with some minor scratches and dings scattered throughout the metal surfaces. There is some light oxidation starting to form on the barrel. The aftermarket heat shield is missing a considerable amount of its original finish, by turning to a patina. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are tooled, but retain strong and serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the cross-bolt safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the laser barrel band, scope, and magazine as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: The Ruger 10/22 Magnum Carbine represents Ruger’s short-lived but well-regarded adaptation of the classic 10/22 platform to the more powerful .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire, offering increased velocity, flatter trajectory, and extended effective range compared to the standard .22 LR. Produced in 1999 by Sturm Ruger & Co., these Magnum variants were built on a reinforced action and remain of interest to collectors and shooters alike due to their discontinued status and practical field performance.

This example is fitted with an 18 1/2-inch barrel and retains a bright bore with sharp rifling, rating 10/10 in this writer’s opinion. The action and cross-bolt safety function correctly. It is equipped with a Tasco EXP 3–9x scope mounted in Ruger rings; the glass is clear, though the scope shows cosmetic issues including a sticky exterior from residual adhesive and rates Fair condition overall. Also present is a Ruger LaserMax laser barrel band with dual accessory rails, which functions as intended, along with a 9-round Ruger factory magazine in Very Good condition.

Overall, this rifle retains approximately 96% of its original blued metal finish, with light handling wear, scattered minor scratches, and early oxidation beginning on the barrel. The aftermarket metal heat shield shows significant finish loss and patina, but does not detract from function. The smooth wood stock remains in Very Good condition, showing only minor dings and compressions, and fits the action tightly. Taken together, this Ruger 10/22 Magnum Carbine rates Good overall, offering a desirable combination of a discontinued Magnum rimfire platform with period accessories and solid mechanical condition.
