Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “DEER PARK, N.Y. / MADE IN U.S.A.”, the right is marked “Rohrbaugh R9” in German script, the right shoulder in front of the ejection port is marked “COVERT”. The right of the barrel at the chamber is marked “9 MM”. The right of the dust cover is marked “R5927”. Each grip panel and floorplate is marked with a Rohrbaugh logo. The left of each magazine body is marked “CAUTION: STANDARD 9MM AMMO ONLY / DO NOT USE +P OR +P+ AMMO IN THIS FIREARM”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a low profile blade at the front of the slide, the rear is a low profile square notch at the rear. Both sights are integral to the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered black Carbon Fiber panels with a Rohrbaugh logo marked on each panel. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The grips are in Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The barrel shows very minor operational wear. Otherwise, there is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The screw heads are undamaged and the markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The double action only trigger is quite smooth. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a black plastic Rohrbaugh case, itself in a cardboard Rohrbuagh shipping sleeve with serial-matching label, a total of two 6-round magazines, replacement recoil spring (see Our Assessment) and an assortment of factory paperwork including manual, all in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: The Rohrbaugh R9 is a premium, hand made, sub-compact semi-automatic pistol designed from the ground up as a concealed carry gun. Though out of production, we believe it is still the smallest 9mm semi-automatic on the market with a length of just over 5″, height of just under 4″ and width of approximately 1″. Its design hearkens back to the Seecamp automatics, themselves considered the finest micro-compact pistols of their day. From the clean, smooth lines of the steel slide and alloy frame, butter-smooth double action trigger, complete lack of exposed controls or corners to snag, this is a concealed-carry wonder-gun. For those times when you would otherwise forgo carrying, you can still have 6+1 rounds of 9mm with you for defense and not need to worry about whether an anemic .25, .32 or .380 will get the job done. Much of this amazing design depends on its dual-recoil spring system. While the factory recommends replacing the main recoil spring every 200 rounds, this pistol doesn’t appear to have seen much, if any firing and comes with a spare recoil spring, so you can practice and train, familiarize yourself with the pistol, and replace the spring as necessary. As wonderful a carry pistol as this is, there were limited numbers made and they have become something of a collector piece. This “Covert” example, with its original box and accessories, will likely interest those who want a pristine piece to add to their stable. Please see our photos and good luck!
