Our Assessment: This Rock-Ola M1 Carbine originally manufactured in early 1943 is a rare and historically significant example from one of the lesser-known contractors involved in WWII firearm production. Rock-Ola, known primarily as a jukebox manufacturer, was one of ten companies tasked with producing M1 Carbines to meet the overwhelming demand of the war effort. This particular rifle has been fully refinished by DGR (Deans Gun Restorations), a respected name in M1 restoration. The work includes a high-quality re-parked finish, precision wood fitting, and replacement stock that closely mirrors the wartime originals. It also comes with a reproduction M1A1 paratrooper stock, giving it the iconic folding-metal-buttstock profile used by airborne troops.

The M1 Carbine itself was designed as a lightweight, intermediate-power weapon for support troops, developed largely through the efforts of firearms designer David Marshall Williams. Williams innovated the short-stroke gas piston system used in the carbine, a design that proved both reliable and easy to manufacture. Though not intended as a front-line battle rifle, the M1 Carbine saw widespread use across all theaters of WWII, and later in Korea and Vietnam. A Rock-Ola marked example, especially one professionally restored and paired with a paratrooper stock, blends historical significance with collector appeal and functional shooting potential.
