SOLD FOR: $2,025.00
LSB#: LSB250729OS017
Make: Remington Rand, Inc.
Model: M1911A1
Serial Number: 1299345
Year of Manufacture: Circa 1943–1945 C&R
Caliber: .45 ACP
Action Type: Semi-Automatic, Single Action (1911 pattern)
Barrel Length: 5″
Sights / Optics: Fixed dovetail front sight and fixed rear sight (service configuration)
Grips / Stock Configuration: Period brown/checkered hard rubber panels, good overall with edge wear consistent with service use
Finish: Original parkerized finish; overall honest military wear with holster scuffing to the left side of the slide and frame, edge wear on slide serrations and muzzle, and light handling marks through the receiver surfaces. Finish retention is generally service-worn but remains uniform and honest for a U.S. property military pistol.
Markings: The left slide is stamped “REMINGTON RAND, INC. / SYRACUSE, N.Y., U.S.A.” and the right frame is roll-stamped UNITED STATES PROPERTY with the serial N01299345 and an M1911A1 U.S. ARMY roll. There are multiple inspector/acceptance punches, including an ordnance-style crossed-cannons mark behind the right grip and additional acceptance punches and a small “P” forward of the magazine catch; the frame also shows an “FIA” stamp above the trigger guard consistent with wartime inspection/acceptance marking practice. One magazine floorplate is stamped “C-R.” The leather holster shows a rear stamp reading “ENGER CREST” (holster marked U.S.).
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with no visible erosion or pitting. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Accessories: Two steel single-stack .45 ACP magazines (one with “C-R” floorplate) and a period leather U.S. holster stamped “ENGER CREST.” Lanyard loop retained on the butt.
Mechanics: The slide and controls operate as expected for a standard service M1911A1; the action cycles, and the pistol appears complete and functionally assembled. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Overall Condition: A solid, honest Remington Rand M1911A1 showing typical U.S. service wear — parkerized and well used from holster carry but mechanically complete and correctly marked. The pistol retains correct wartime stamps and inspector punches and comes with two magazines and a service leather holster, making it a straightforward ordnance example for a collector of WWII-era US property pistols.
Our Assessment: This Remington Rand M1911A1 presents as a workmanlike and well-documented service pistol. Remington Rand production (Syracuse, N.Y.) is a well-documented wartime contract, and the combination of United States property roll, serial 1299345, ordnance inspector punches, and matching service hardware makes this a clean example of a field-issued M1911A1 rather than a later commercial restoration. The included holster and marked magazine add to the lot’s appeal for collectors seeking ordnance provenance.
This lot will suit a collector focused on honest service examples or an enthusiast building a small ordnance-marked 1911 group; cosmetically it shows normal holster scuffing and handling marks but retains a uniform parkerized surface and an excellent bore.
