Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 85% of its arsenal-refinished parkerized finish. There is thinning on the high edges of the frame and slide, operational and handling wear throughout, and some finish wear at the muzzle and slide rails. The screw heads are sharp, and the pins are clean. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this pistol rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None

Our Assessment:  This Remington Rand M1911A1 is a true WWII-era service pistol, produced as part of the U.S. military’s massive wartime contract effort. With its original slide intact, this pistol maintains its wartime identity despite later modifications. The addition of a Colt Series 70 barrel and Colt wood grips suggests post-service parts replacement, a common occurrence with surplus arms that saw continued use in military, police, or civilian hands.

Remington Rand produced approximately 900,000 M1911A1 pistols during WWII, making them the most prolific manufacturer of the model during the war. Despite being the most common, well-preserved examples with their original slides are still highly collectible—especially when paired with functional updates that make them viable shooters today.

This example strikes a balance between collectibility and practicality. It’s ideal for someone who wants to own and shoot a piece of American military history without the worry of diminishing the value of a pristine collector’s item. Whether for range use, historical display, or as the centerpiece of a WWII sidearm collection, this Remington Rand is an enduring icon of U.S. combat arms.  Please see our High Quality photos and good luck on your bids.-C.M.
