Overall, the grips are in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blued.

Finish Originality: Refinished, likely arsenal refurbished. The slide is not original to the frame.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright with sharp rifling. There is some scattered stubborn fouling, spots of light erosion and infrequent minor pitting.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 87% of its current metal finish. The finish is thinning at most edges. Most of the balance is handling wear in the grip areas. There are some scattered minor nicks, scuffs and scratches. The action shows operational wear. The mainspring housing appears to have had a lanyard ring which was ground off. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings range from clear to worn and incomplete. Overall, this pistol is in about Very Good condition as customized.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger pull is light and crisp and the slide has no play on the frame. The trigger has an over-travel adjustment screw in the front with a set-screw on the right. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with one 7-round magazine. The magazine has minor operational wear, some minor surface oxidation, intact feed lips and a strong spring, in about Fine condition.

Our Assessment: The 1911 served for decades as the standard issue U.S. service sidearm and continued for decades until this very day as a popular competition pistol. This example is a mix of a mix, using a commercial slide, a WWII era 1911A1 military frame, and National Match components developed for use by the military in competition. The result is a nice, vintage target pistol which is a nice blend of military and competition pistol, using military competition parts. Whether you find this novelty appropriate for a collection or are looking for a classic shooter, this is a great pistol for any safe in America.
