Our Assessment: The Remington Model Six represents the final evolutionary step of Remington’s long-running pump-action centerfire rifle lineage, tracing its roots back to the Model 14 and Model 141 of the early 20th century. Introduced in the early 1980s alongside the Model 7600, the Model Six was intended as a streamlined, traditionally styled alternative that retained the fast-handling characteristics and mechanical reliability that had defined Remington’s slide-action sporting rifles for generations. Produced for only a relatively short period, the Model Six reflects Remington’s late 20th century approach to blending classic American rifle ergonomics with modern manufacturing.

Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, this rifle is paired with one of the most enduring and versatile military and sporting cartridges ever developed. Adopted by the U.S. Army in 1906, the .30-06 quickly proved itself across two world wars before becoming a benchmark North American hunting cartridge, valued for its broad bullet selection, consistent accuracy, and adaptability across a wide range of game. In a 22 inch barrel, the cartridge delivers excellent balance between velocity and handling. The bore on this example is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion, and the factory iron sights remain intact with the receiver drilled and tapped for optic mounting.

This rifle retains approximately 95% of its original blued finish, with light handling marks, scattered scratches, and minor corrosion spots consistent with careful use. The checkered walnut stocks show honest wear with compression dents and light moisture discoloration near the buttplate but no chips or cracks, maintaining solid structural integrity and classic lines. Markings remain clear and legible, pins are unmarred, and a single factory four-round detachable magazine is included. Overall, this is a well-preserved example of a lesser-seen Remington pump rifle that combines traditional styling, a proven action type, and a historically significant chambering.
