Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number at the breech and “Remington / MODEL 700” at the midsection. The left side of the barrel is marked with a warning above “REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC., ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.”, “.264 WIN. MAG.”, and is also marked with an inspection mark and “KG 47” at the receiver. The right side of the barrel is marked with magnaflux, proof, and test marks at the breech. The bolt is matched to the rifle and the bottom is marked “0724”.

Sights / Optics: The barrel has no provision for iron sights. The top of the receiver has been installed with a Leupold base and a pair of rings that are holding a Leupold M8-4X scope. There are some scattered scuffs, mostly located around the rings. There is a ding through the finish on the left side of the tube in front of the front ring. The scope has a duplex reticle and the glass is clear. The scope rates in about Fine condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is checkered wood with a pistol grip and a fluted straight comb. The stock has a single brass reinforcing pin. There are scattered draglines and compressions throughout. There are some marks through the finish. There are some scattered marks that have removed the finish and small portions of surface wood, most noticeable on the butt of the pistol grip and on the belly of the buttstock. The checkering is mostly strong but some has light rub wear and a few marks. The LOP measures 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the skipline checkered brown rubber Remington buttpad. The buttpad has some light wear and has become stiff. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There are a few small spots of minor surface erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 89% of its metal finish. The receiver has a couple scuffs and a few spots of light surface oxidation, the most noticeable are on the left side at the rear. The bolt handle has become plum and has finish loss. The trigger guard has some little nicks, scuffs, and scratches. The barrel has some scattered nicks, scuffs, and scratches. Some of the marks on the barrel have thinned the finish and some have gone through the finish. There is some thinning and finish loss at the muzzle. There is light handling wear. There is standard operational wear. The markings are strong, the screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Remington 700 needs no introduction, it has been one of the most popular bolt action rifles in America for decades, seeing use in target shooting, hunting, and in law enforcement. Remington had been producing sporting rifles for decades, but their Post-WWI Model 30 Sporter took too much time & money to make and required too much milling. After WWII they designed the Model 721 which used a receiver made of bar stock, meaning it could be turned on a lathe, cutting production time & cost. The basic design of the 721 went through further developments under the direction of engineer Mike Walker, and Remington went on to produce the Model 722 and Model 725, and finally, in 1962, the Model 700 was born. With the design, Walker desired to increase accuracy over previous designs so tight bore & chamber tolerances, a short leade, and fast lock time were used. Since its inception in 1962, it has been produced in just about any caliber and configuration you could think of. If it hasn’t there are custom parts and gunsmiths out there to get it exactly how you like. This 700 Classic Limited Edition has seen some use but it has good mechanics and a bore that is still ready to deliver lead as aimed. This is the perfect rifle for the field, especially topped with the Leupold scope, and you definitely won’t mind putting it through its paces.
