Our Assessment: A stainless exterior on Remington’s storied Model 700 platform, fitted with a 24″ barrel sized to unlock the .300 Win. Mag’s long-range performance. The action is a two-locking-lug push-feed bolt renowned for smooth operation and consistent lockup, mounted on a stout optics-ready receiver top. The stainless treatment improves corrosion resistance and field durability. The 24″ barrel helps the cartridge reach its intended velocities and preserves a satisfying sight radius when iron sights are used; most examples are set up for scope mounting and long-range pointability.
The Model 700 debuted in 1962 and quickly became a benchmark bolt action in American hunting and precision circles; the .300 Winchester Magnum, introduced soon after in 1963, established itself as a hard-hitting, long-range hunting round favored for elk- and big-game work. Together, a stainless 700 in .300 Win. Mag reflects mid-to-late 20th-century trends toward magnum-caliber hunting rifles and optics-first, accuracy-oriented factory rifles that dominated the market from the 1960s onward.
