The base of the forend has a gap to the wood, most noticeable on the right. There are large patches of finish loss, most noticeable on the belly. There are some little dings, the most noticeable are on the top of the comb. There are some scattered little compressions. The checkering is stgrong. The LOP measures 14″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad, 13″ to the back of the wood. The pad has some wear but no major defects. The barrel will not close properly, we cannot take accurate drop measurements. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good condition.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. The receiver has some thinning on the edges plus some scattered little scuffs and light marks. The barrels have some light handling wear and a few scattered little marks through the finish. The barrel joint at the muzzles has some scattered oxidation. The barrel latch on the receiver has spots of finish loss from oxidation. The pinheads are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Good condition (mechanics).
Mechanics: The action does not function correctly. The barrels will not close completely. This was sent back to Remington to upgrade the internals indicated by the “.” in the serial number and Allen bolts at the breechface. The trigger is mechanically operated. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a Peak Case Co. case, sub-gauge tubes, and extractors for the tubes. The tubes are 20 gauge, 28 gauge and .410 gauge. They have bright bores and some have some fouling.
Our Assessment: This is one of the few over-under shotgun models ever produced by Remington. The design is essentially the same as the Krieghoff model 32 and the fit and finish isn’t far off from a Krieghoff, either. This shotgun is in about Good condition due to mechanics, the barrels will not close properly. This 3200 Competition Skeet comes with sub-gauge sets and will be a great addition for anyone serious about dusting clays after the mechanics are sorted out. This is a phenomenally made shotgun that will be serving its new owner well for decades to come after it is fixed. Please see our photos and good luck!
