Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “TRAP”. The right side of the receiver is marked “Remington Model-1100LH”, and the serial number is present at the bottom at the rear. The sides of the receiver have scroll engraving and so does the bolt. The left side of the barrel is marked “*12 GA.*L.H. FOR 2 ¾ OR SHORTER SHELLS / FULL” and at the receiver is marked with inspection marks and “KW”. The right side of the barrel is marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. / PATENT NOS. 2,675,638 – 2,719,375 – 3,200,710 – 3,201,886” and has a series of proof, inspection, and magnaflux marks.

Sights / Optics: The shotgun is mounted with a white bead front sight set on the rib at the muzzle and also has a smaller bright steel alignment aid at the midsection.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are press checkered wood with fleur di lis accents, a fluted monte carlo comb, finger groove forend, and a black-capped pistol grip. There are some draglines and a few compressions. Some of the most noticeable marks are on the right of the buttstock, left side of the wrist at the receiver, and sides of the forend towards the front. The majority of the marks are quite light. There is light handling wear. The LOP measures approximately 14 1/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the vent rubber Remington buttpad and 13 1/4” to the wood. The black spacer is slightly shy. The pad has some light wear and discoloration, mainly at the heel and toe. The stocks rate in about Fine Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, there are a few spots of light erosion towards the muzzle.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some marks into the finish and some spots of surface oxidation on the receiver, most noticeable on the top at the rear. The top of the receiver at the rear also has soem little spots of pinprick erosion. There are some spots of stubborn residue on the trigger guard. There are some light handling marks and some light mottled oil marks on the barrel. There are a few spots of frost on the barrel, most noticeable on the left about midway between the magtube and muzzle. There is standard operational wear. The markings are clear. The pins are unmarred. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Very Good-Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: Designed by Wayne Leek and R. Kelley, the Remington Model 1100 was introduced in 1963 as a successor to the model 58 and 878 gas operated shotguns. The Model 58s had supplanted the recoil operated Model 11-48, which retained the long recoil action of John Browning’s original design, present in the Remington Model 11 and the Auto-5. All models of the 1100 are gas operated with a mechanism that noticeably reduces recoil. The Remington Model 1100 ushered in the era of successful and reliable gas-actuated autoloading shotguns, and it is the best selling autoloading shotgun in U.S. history. The Model 1100 holds a record for shells fired out of an autoloading shotgun without malfunction, cleaning or parts breakage with a record of over 24,000 rounds. The record was set in 1978 with a Remington model 1100 LT-20. Breaking this record has been attempted with several other models of semi-auto shotguns with no luck. This particular 1100 is a Left Hand Trap variant with a 30” vent-rib barrel, blued finish, and monte carlo comb buttstock.
