Sights / Optics: The front sight is a globe front sight. The rear sight is a Trakker fully adjustable aperture peep sight. The top of the receiver is mounted with a two-piece Weaver-style base for optics.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece H-S Precision PST-024 composite stock, with a pistol grip with a palm swell, fluted straight comb, wide forend, rubber buttpad, and sling rings front and rear. An additional sling stud is mounted on the forend, for the addition of a bipod. The LOP is adjustable, but measures 11 7/8″ from its shortest setting, to 14 1/2″ at its longest setting. The LOP is measured from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock may appear to be in rough condition, but it should be noted that Remington went through the effort to leave the original stocks just exactly as they came back from the troops in the field when the original rifle was turned in. The stock has been spray painted in a tan camo color, and shows wear around all of the leading edges, along with scratches, dings, and handling wear throughout. Remember, this is how the stock came back from overseas use, and Remington intended for them to be this way. There are no structural chips or cracks, and the stock fits the barreled action tightly, with no play. Overall, the stock rates in Excellent condition.
Magazine Quantity & Condition: 5 round, Internal Box Magazine, Hinged Floorplate
Type of Finish: Non-Reflective Powder Coated Matte Black
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright, with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some minor fouling in the grooves. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light operational wear on the friction portions of the action. The finish on the barrel shows no notable wear. The bottom metal shows wear on the spray paint finish, but remember, this was intentional by Remington. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. The trigger has a light and crisp break. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its original serial number matching box, owner’s manual, and leather sling.
Our Assessment: The Remington Model 700 / M24 SWS Collector’s Edition is a purposeful, service-derived bolt gun that bridges military provenance and modern precision-rifle ergonomics. Built on a heavy-contour 24″ barrel and finished in a hard, non-reflective matte black, this 2016 example wears the look and hardware of a duty M24 while retaining the accuracy and handling shooters expect from the Model 700 platform.
Chambered in 7.62×51 NATO (.308 Win.), the rifle is built for precision long-range shooting and competition with practical, widely available ammunition. Key selling points here are the heavy-contour 24″ barrel with a bright bore we rate 9.5/10, the purpose-built H-S Precision PST-024 chassis (adjustable LOP) that gives the rifle an immediately usable, modern fit, and the Trakker peep and globe front sight set that preserve the rifle’s field-issued character. The rifle ships complete the included serial-matching box, manual and leather sling, which add to its completeness for collectors.
Condition and presentation are honest and correct for this Collector’s Edition: metal surfaces retain roughly 99% of their finish with only light operational wear on friction areas, while the stock shows field-worn spray-paint and handling marks exactly as Remington returned them from service—an intentional, correct detail that will matter to buyers who prize genuine, unrefurbished examples. Mechanically the action and safety function properly and the trigger breaks light and clean.
For a shooter who wants a ready platform built to military specification, or a collector seeking a collector’s edition, field-finished M24/700 variant, this example represents a compelling, move-in-ready package. Please check out our high quality photos, and good luck on your bids! – J.D.
