Sights / Optics: The front sight is a silver bead. The top of the receiver is wavy serrated for glare reduction.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece pressed checkered walnut with capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, Remington vented rubber buttpad,checkered pump grip. There are a few scuffs and compressions throughout. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion in the bore. There is minor fouling toward the muzzle. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light operation wear on the magtube and action bar where some of the finish has thinned or removed. There are a couple rust freckles on both barrel and receiver. The screw heads are sharp. The pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Extra barrel: This barrel retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light operational wear on the rear part of the barrel. There is a couple of rust freckling. The markings are clear. Overall, this barrel rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Remington 870 Wingmaster Magnum is one of the most respected pump-action shotguns in American sporting history, known for its smooth action, durability, and timeless design. This example, manufactured in 1971 with a BU date code, is chambered in 20 gauge with a 3” chamber and comes equipped with a 28” fixed FULL choke barrel. It features classic Wingmaster blued steel and walnut construction, with pressed checkering, a capped semi-pistol grip, fluted comb, and checkered pump grip. The bright bore and excellent metal finish speak to its careful handling, while the sharp checkering and clean wood surfaces show it has been well cared for over the years.
Condition is outstanding, with about 99% of the finish intact on the main barrel and receiver, showing only light operational wear on the mag tube and action bar, plus a few small rust freckles. The included extra barrel rates about Fine, retaining 95% of its finish with only light operational wear and minor freckles. The bores on both barrels are bright, with minimal fouling, and the action cycles and locks up as it should. For collectors, this is an Excellent condition, C&R-eligible 1971 Wingmaster with extra barrel versatility; for shooters, it’s a top-tier example of a classic 870 that’s ready for the field or range.
