Our Assessment:  The Remington 870 TAC-14 in 12-gauge offers a different take on the legendary Remington 870 shotgun platform, focusing on close-quarters utility and maneuverability. With its 14-inch barrel and an overall length of just around 26 inches, the TAC-14 isn’t classified as a shotgun but rather a “firearm” under U.S. law, allowing for its unique compactness. Despite its size, it still boasts a 4+1 capacity, ensuring ample firepower for personal protection or close-range engagements. The firearm features a Hardwood forend and a bird’s head-style pistol grip. The Wood forend and grip add to the aesthetic of this firearm giving it a semi-retro look. The bird’s head grip helps to minimize recoil, making the TAC-14 surprisingly manageable to shoot. The receiver is made from solid steel, ensuring durability and long-term reliability, while the dual action bars guarantee smooth, effortless cycling of shells. The barrel and receiver have a black oxide finish, offering both a sleek appearance and additional protection against corrosion. In conclusion, the Remington 870 TAC-14 provides a compelling option for those looking for a compact, versatile firearm with applications ranging from home defense to tactical scenarios. Its design leverages the proven Remington 870 platform while introducing features aimed at improving close-quarter effectiveness. While it may require some practice to master, the TAC-14 offers a unique blend of portability and power, making it an intriguing addition to any collection.
