The stock shows minor storage wear, with one small ding on the left side of the stock, and a few other minor superficial imperfections scattered throughout. The checkering is well defined. The stock’s finish is intact throughout. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its original serial number matching box, and owner’s manual/paperwork.

Our Assessment: The Remington Model 700 KS Safari Stainless represents a focused period in Remington’s 1990s production when the company was actively refining purpose-built dangerous game rifles for professional and international hunters. The KS Safari line combined stainless steel construction with lightweight Kevlar stocks to create rifles that could withstand harsh climates, humidity, and extended field use. Built on the proven Model 700 action, the Safari SS was positioned as a serious, no-frills hunting rifle intended for reliability over refinement, with features selected for function rather than ornamentation.

Chambered in .416 Remington Magnum, this rifle is configured around a cartridge developed in the late 1980s to deliver true dangerous game performance in a standard-length action. Designed to rival the legendary .416 Rigby while fitting modern magnum actions, the .416 Remington Magnum offers tremendous penetration, consistent feeding, and authoritative terminal performance. The 22 inch stainless barrel, factory iron sights, and drilled and tapped receiver reflect a practical setup suited for both traditional sighting and modern optics, reinforcing the rifle’s role as a working safari tool.

This example presents in very good overall condition, retaining the majority of its original stainless finish with honest wear consistent with careful handling and storage rather than hard field use. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, the bolt jeweling remains vivid, and the Kevlar stock is structurally sound with only minor cosmetic imperfections. With its original box and paperwork included, this Remington 700 KS Safari SS stands as a well-preserved example of a specialized big-game rifle from Remington’s late 20th century safari-oriented offerings.
