The top of the receiver is mounted with a Weaver K6 60-B 6x scope, with a fine crosshair reticle. The glass in the scope is clear. The scope shows light wear, with a few scratches and dings scattered throughout the scope’s finish, along with scattered freckling of light surface corrosion. Overall, the scope rates in Fair to Good condition. The scope is mounted on a two-piece base, and sits in 1″ rings.

The stock shows light wear, with scratches, dings, and compressions throughout. There is a pressure mark on both the right and left sides of the buttstock, that are indicative of the stock being squeezed in a vise. The checkering is well defined. The stock’s finish is largely intact, with some minor bubbling of the finish around the vise marks. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Good condition.
Type of Finish: Blued
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some dust in the bore from storage. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with a few light scratches and dings scattered throughout the metal surfaces. There is some minor freckling of surface corrosion at the chamber. There is some operational wear on the bolt, and some thinning of the finish on the trigger guard. Otherwise, the bluing is intact throughout. The jeweling on the bolt is still vivid and bright. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are tooled, but retain serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the sling and scope as mentioned above.
Our Assessment: The Remington Model 700 BDL from 1975 reflects a period when the Model 700 had firmly established itself as one of America’s premier bolt-action sporting rifles. By the mid-1970s, the BDL configuration represented the higher-grade trim level within the lineup, featuring gloss-finished walnut, a hinged floorplate, and classic sporting lines. Produced in Ilion, New York, during an era many collectors associate with strong manufacturing consistency, this rifle carries Curio and Relic eligibility and stands as a representative example of Remington’s golden age sporting production.
Chambered in .308 Winchester, this rifle is built around a cartridge introduced in the 1950s that quickly became a benchmark for efficiency and versatility. The .308 Winchester is known for its balanced recoil, inherent accuracy, and wide range of available bullet weights, making it a mainstay for both hunting and target shooting. The 22 inch barrel, factory iron sights, and mounted Weaver K6 fixed-power scope reflect a practical mid-1970s hunting configuration, blending traditional sighting options with period-correct optics.
This example presents in good overall condition, retaining the majority of its original blued finish with honest wear consistent with decades of careful ownership. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling, the bolt jeweling is still vivid, and the walnut stock, while showing handling marks and vise impressions, remains structurally sound and well fitted to the action. Overall, this Remington 700 BDL stands as a solid, C&R-eligible example of a classic American bolt-action rifle from the 1970s, chambered in one of the most enduring sporting cartridges ever developed.
