Our Assessment: This 2005 Remington 1100 Competition Model in 12 gauge is presented with two barrel sets to cover a wide range of clay and field work. The 28″ barrel is cut for Remchokes and includes a Briley Skeet and a Carlson Improved Cylinder choke; that tube set and the 28″ wavy serrated rib with a small silver bead front sight make it ideal for skeet and close-range targets. The 30″ barrel is cut for Remington ProBore chokes and includes Skeet, IC, and Full tubes; it carries a serrated rib with a small white bead front sight and a silver mid bead, giving a clear sight plane and the longer reach best suited to sporting clays and longer presentations. The barrels are finished in blued steel while the receiver is stainless, and the twin-barrel arrangement increases the gun’s versatility without altering the core semi-automatic performance Remington’s 1100 is known for.

The stock and forend are a checkered, high-gloss walnut set with a full-finger shelf forend and a capped semi-pistol grip stock that includes an adjustable comb and a rubber butt pad for recoil control and repeatable eye alignment. Mechanically the 1100’s gas-operated system yields soft, manageable recoil and fast follow-up shots, and the combination of matched choke tubes across the two barrels provides immediate patterning options from close skeet to full-choke distance. Overall, this Competition Model’s dual-barrel setup, tuned choke selections, and high-quality walnut furniture make it a flexible, competition-ready shotgun for shooters who want on-the-fly adaptability between disciplines.
