Overall, this shotgun rates in Very Good condition.

Our Assessment:. The Remington Model 11-48 was a major evolution in American semi-automatic shotgun design, marrying the long-recoil operation of the Browning Auto-5 with sleek postwar styling and the first mass-produced stamped steel receiver from Remington. Produced from 1949 to the late 1960s, the 11-48 stood as Remington’s flagship autoloader during the postwar boom, prized for its ruggedness, clean lines, and sporting versatility.

This example, chambered in 20 gauge and manufactured in 1962, retains about 85% of its original metal finish with only light operational wear and minor surface marks. The bore is in superb condition with a bright interior and a fixed Modified choke, making it well-suited for upland birds or general field use. The stock set is in remarkable shape for its age—sharp checkering, a strong original finish, and minimal handling marks—testifying to careful use and storage. The factory Remington buttplate and period features are all intact, and the action cycles smoothly.

For collectors of classic American sporting arms or shooters seeking a trim, lightweight field gun, this 11-48 delivers vintage charm, mechanical reliability, and practical field performance in one handsome package. It’s ready for another generation of use—or a place of honor in a sporting arms collection. Please check out our high quality photos, and good luck on your bids! – J.D.
