Bore Condition: The bore is bright and shiny and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition:  This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is very little wear on the finish, including the bolt handle.  The Barrel address and other markings are sharp and unpolished which makes us believe that the finish is original.  The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. The left side crossbolt in the stock appears to have been removed and reinstalled at some point with minor damage.  Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition as a C&R.

Mechanics: The action functions as intended.  We did not fire this rifle.  As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes the mounted scope as described above.

Our Assessment: A super rare and highly desirable variation of the iconic Model 70, this Winchester Mannlicher Stock rifle in .30-06 Springfield is a late-1960s American beauty. Made during a very short production run from 1968 to 1971, this full-stock variant has a factory installed Mannlicher style walnut stock, making it a holy grail for collectors and Winchester enthusiasts. Just over 2000 of these full-stock European style rifles were produced during that time, although it is thought that some may have made their way out of the Custom Shop at different times.  The classic European full-stock design sets it apart from sporters, it’s a refined silhouette and balance.

The Winchester Model 70 Mannlicher Stock rifle is the rarest of the post-64 production variations. This example made in 1968 remains in excellent condition with no signs of refinishing. This is a beautiful piece for your collection, especially combined with its included Weaver scope of the period. This is really your chance to add the Holy Grail of the Model 70 line to your collection!  Please see our high quality photos for a better understanding of condition and best of luck with your bidding!!!
