Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post integral to the triple frame. The rear sight is a four position diopter sight with three peep holes and an open V-notch.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: This rifle has a three piece green polymer stock set with a thin ribbed handguard that has checkering, finger grooved pistol grip, and a straight combed stock with a serrated polymer buttplate. There are light scuffs and scratches present. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. The LOP is 14.75″ from the face of the trigger to the rear of the butt. Overall, the furniture is in Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with stubborn fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10. 

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its finish. There are light scuffs and scratches scattered throughout. The pins are lightly used and fully functional. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The bolt gap measures twelve-thousandths. We did not shoot this firearm. As with all used firearms we expect many will want to clean the firearm depending on their standards.

Our Assessment: This pre-ban SAR-8 Sporter was manufactured by EBO in Greece and imported by Springfield Armory prior to the 1994 ban. The Greek-made SAR-8 rifles are widely regarded as the most desirable variant of the model, as they were built on stamped receivers in the traditional pattern of the original HK91. Produced by the Hellenic Arms Industry, these rifles closely follow the roller-delayed blowback system that defined the G3 lineage.

Chambered in 7.62×51 NATO with an 18″ barrel, this rifle offers the full-power performance associated with one of the most widely adopted battle rifle cartridges of the 20th century. The 7.62×51 NATO round is respected for its accuracy, range, and consistent ballistic performance. The bore rates an excellent 9.5 out of 10, and the action functions correctly, reflecting strong mechanical condition and proper cycling of the roller-delayed system.

Approximately 98% of the original finish remains, presenting a clean and well-preserved example with minimal visible wear. As a pre-ban, Greek-produced SAR-8 Sporter, this rifle stands as a highly sought-after representation of the HK-pattern semi-automatic rifle platform in its most authentic imported form.
