Our Assessment: This pre-ban Argentine F.M.A.P. FSL represents one of the most respected licensed FAL variants produced outside Belgium, manufactured at the Rosario arsenal by Fábrica Militar de Armas Portátiles. Built prior to the 1989 import restrictions, the FSL is widely regarded for its faithful adherence to FN specifications, high-quality metallurgy, and excellent overall fit and finish. Argentine FALs have long held a strong reputation among collectors and shooters alike, and the FSL occupies a desirable position as a true military-pattern semi-automatic rifle imported during the pre-ban era. Mechanically and internally, this example presents exceptionally well. The bore is bright with semi-sharp rifling and only faint erosion, earning a strong 9.75 out of 10 rating. The short-stroke gas piston system functions correctly, and the rifle retains its correct 21 inch barrel length and standard FAL sighting system, with an adjustable front post and two-position rear aperture protected by wings. The barrel and lower are serial matched to the receiver, a notable detail that adds to the rifle’s overall integrity and desirability. The adjustable gas system and robust operating components reflect the FAL’s long-standing reputation for reliability across varied conditions.

Overall condition is excellent, with approximately 99 percent of the original black enamel finish retained and only light handling marks visible. The polymer furniture set presents cleanly with no cracks or chips, and the stock retains its dropped comb profile with a solid rubber buttplate. Markings are clear and well defined, screw heads are sharp, and pins are unmarred. Included with the rifle are eight excellent-condition metric pattern steel magazines and a canvas sling, making this a complete and highly attractive pre-ban package. Taken as a whole, this Argentine FSL stands as a premium example of a licensed FAL rifle, offering strong collector appeal, excellent condition, and the enduring legacy of one of the most iconic battle rifle designs of the twentieth century. -R.E.
