Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA / -WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL-“, “-WINCHESTER- / -TRADE MARK-” and “MODEL 70-300 H&H MAGNUM”. The left side of the barrel at the receiver and the receiver at the barrel are marked with a circled “WP” proof. The left side of the receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK-”. The right side of the receiver’s chamber ring is marked “318880”. The bottom of the bolt is hand-scribed “318880”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade with a protective hood dovetailed to a textured, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear of the barrel has a boss with a dovetail for a rear sight, but none is present. Installed to the top of the receiver via a Buehler rail and two rings is a Weatherby Imperial 6×62 scope with a target dot reticle. There is some thinning on the knobs and scattered light scratches and dings. The lenses are clear. Overall, the scope is in about very good condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece checkered walnut with a pistol grip, monte carlo comb, a textured ventilated red Pachmayr recoil pad, and sling swivels front and rear. The stock has scattered nicks, dings, scuffs and scratches. There is finish loss around the base of the buttstock. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. The LOP measures 12 7/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The pad has rub wear around the edges and scattered light marks on the face. Overall, the stock is in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. The barrel and receiver show scattered light finish wear with some nicks and scratches. There are tiny spots of oxidation on the bolt knob and trigger guard. The screw heads are tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a safety mounted on the bolt sleeve. Pushed forwards, the safety is OFF. If pulled back all the way, it locks both the bolt and the trigger. If pulled back half-way, it blocks only the trigger. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
