Our Assessment: The Model 54 was the first commercially successful centerfire bolt action rifle made by Winchester for the civilian market. Produced between 1925 and 1936, the Model 54 featured a Mauser 98-type action and was chambered in many popular cartridges including .30-30 and .30-06. Aspects of the Model 54 would later be incorporated into its wildly successful successor, the Model 70. This example was manufactured in 1928. The bore is bright with excellent rifling so it will still make a great shooter. . While not as successful as the Model 70, the Model 54 was still an important part of the Winchester story. This would fit into any Winchester collection. Please see our photos and good luck on your bid! – L.S.
