Markings: The tang is marked “SH22492”.The bottom of the barrel is marked “BEAUCHAMP RICHMOND, MA SH22492 DP PEDERSOLI CAL. 45-70 -MADE IN ITALY-CAT.8125” The receiver is stamped with several proofs including the date code.
Barrel Length: 32” “Light” Octagon Barrel. The rifle weighs 10lbs 14oz.
Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a simple blade dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight has been removed and a dovetail block has been installed. This rifle also includes a tang mounted Vernier Style micrometer rear sight with small eyepiece and long range staff.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is a two piece smooth walnut. The stock is a straight hand grip, straight comb and has a checkered black plastic butt plate. The forend is a smooth splinter style forend. The LOP measures 14.25? from the front trigger to the back of the butt plate. The wood shows minor scattered compressions and very light surface level lines. There is a notable rub mark on the left side wrist of the stock. There are no chips or cracks. The comb shows a few small marks from the tang sight. The butt plate has sharp checkering and shows no notable marks or wear. Overall the wood is in Very Good+-Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel is blued and the receiver, lever and hammer are color case hardened.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. The crown is clean showing no fouling. There are no scratches on the feed tray. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.75/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The barrel shows scattered very minor marks. The lower tang shows the rub mark from the lever. The screw heads are undamaged sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good+ almost Excellent condition.
Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
