Our Assessment: Norwegian M/1914 (Kongsberg Colt) — a robust, licensed Kongsberg-made copy of the Colt M1911. Chambered for the .45 ACP (11.25 mm) service cartridge. This example wears the Kongsberg crest and Knut Kvaal ( the control officer) inspection mark. It carries the same single-action, recoil-operated 7-round layout and external controls as the Browning/Colt design.
Adopted in 1914 and produced intermittently at Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk into the interwar and WWII years, these pistols were manufactured under Belgian/FN/Colt licensing and even saw continued wartime production under German occupation; the design remained in Norwegian service for decades thereafter, with examples surviving into the late 20th century. Be sure to check our detailed pictures for a better understanding of the firearm. -C.R.
