Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows handling and storage wear. There are some scratches and light nicks throughout. Most of the wear is on the receiver and bipod. The bipod has the concentration of light nicks. The screwheads are sharp and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with a bipod.
Our Assessment: This Norinco NHM-91 reads as a well-preserved late-service Chinese AK-variant: the 1992 trunnion/bolt stamps and clear Norinco receiver markings confirm its pedigree, and the 21-inch barrel with an aperture rear sight and bipod give it an atypically long-barrel, stabilized configuration for the platform. Cosmetic condition is strong — roughly 98% of the finish retained with only light handling marks on the wood and bipod, sharp screw heads and unmarred pins — and the bore presents bright with well-defined rifling (8/10). The action functions correctly and the supplied bipod and longer barrel change the NHM-91’s handling and sight picture compared with standard carbine-length examples.
The 7.62×39 cartridge was developed in the Soviet Union in the late 1940s to provide a controllable, effective intermediate round for short-to-medium engagement ranges; it is noted for reliable feeding, stout terminal performance relative to its recoil impulse, and long service across dozens of platforms worldwide. In this longer-barrel NHM-91 the added barrel length will usually raise muzzle velocity and tighten the sight radius versus shorter AK-style barrels, and the aperture rear plus bipod favor stable, repeatable sighting for aimed fire. We are no longer offering layaway. Please see our photos and good luck with your bid! -N.P
