Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock buttstock is a wooden stock, sling ring, and metal buttplate with trapdoor for cleaning kit (Missing). The handguard is a two piece wood with vents. The wooden pistol grip has serrations. There are light handling marks and compressions. The upper handguard has two deep compression marks. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 12.5” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition:The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light handling storage wear. There are light scratches and oxidization throughout. The bolt, dust cover, barrel, and cleaning rod have small spots of surface rust forming. The gas system has some rust forming inside. There are small scratches throughout. The screwheads are sharp and the rivets are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Norinco NHM-90 is part of the wave of Chinese AKM-pattern semiautomatic rifles imported during the 1990s, built on the same long-stroke gas system and stamped-receiver architecture that traced back to the Soviet AKM of the 1950s. Although configured for the commercial market, the rifle retains classic Kalashnikov features: protected front post, tangent rear sight, vented handguards, and the robust mechanical layout that defined Chinese Type 56 production. Its wood furniture and blued finish reflect the workmanship typical of the period, when Chinese factories produced some of the closest military-form AK variants available to American buyers.
Chambered in 7.62×39mm, the intermediate cartridge developed in the mid-1940s and long associated with the AK family, the NHM-90 carries forward the ballistic identity that shaped postwar infantry doctrine across much of the world. This example’s bright bore, preserved finish, and intact Kalashnikov profile emphasize the enduring utility of the design while marking it as a product of the late Cold War export era, when Chinese AK-pattern rifles became a familiar presence on the U.S. sporting market.
