Our Assessment: The Mauser Luger P08 remains one of the most iconic and mechanically intriguing pistols of the 20th century. Manufactured in 1940, this example was produced during a period of peak wartime demand and retains its classic wartime configuration with a “42” code toggle and “1940” chamber date. The matching serialized parts (except magazine) and proper inspector numbers add to its collector appeal.

This example has been refinished at some point in its life but still retains sharp markings and a crisp bore, making it an attractive piece for both shooting and display. The P08’s toggle-lock mechanism, distinctive silhouette, and historic roots make it a standout in any collection, particularly for World War II collectors and enthusiasts of German military arms.

Whether you’re an advanced collector looking to fill a 1940 Mauser gap, or a shooter drawn to classic European design, this pistol delivers on both form and function. Please see our high quality photos and good luck on your bid! – M.C.
