Our Assessment: The Marlin Model 410 is a rare and historically significant lever-action shotgun produced by the Marlin Firearms Company between 1929 and 1932. Built on the robust Model 1893 rifle action, it was chambered for 2″ and 2½” .410 bore shells and featured a 26-inch smoothbore barrel with an improved cylinder choke. The shotgun had a tubular magazine capable of holding five rounds and a side-ejecting mechanism, which was uncommon for shotguns of that era. Notably, the Model 410 was offered as a stock bonus incentive during the Great Depression, where customers received the shotgun upon purchasing four shares of Marlin stock. Fewer than 10,000 units were produced, making it a sought-after collector’s item today.

In the early 2000s, Marlin reintroduced the .410 lever-action shotgun, this time based on the Model 336 and later the Model 1895 platforms. These modern iterations featured 22-inch barrels, cylinder bore chokes, and were chambered exclusively for 2½” shells. Production of these models continued until around 2008, with a brief reissue in 2020 before Marlin’s acquisition by Ruger. Please see our photos and good luck on your bid! – L.S.
