Our Assessment: The Marlin Model 39A is a lever-action rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges. Introduced in 1939 as an evolution of the earlier Model 39, it featured several enhancements, including a 24-inch round barrel and a longer, beavertail-style forearm. Production was halted during World War II (1942–1944) and resumed in 1945. In 1946, Marlin transitioned from case-hardened to blued receivers, and the serial number prefix was changed to a lowercase ‘c’. This Model 39A manufactured in 1951 exhibits these post-war features: a blued receiver, a 24-inch round barrel, and a full-length magazine tube. The rifle’s takedown design allows for easy disassembly using a coin to unscrew the action bolt, facilitating convenient cleaning and maintenance. Renowned for its accuracy and reliability, the Model 39A has earned a reputation as one of the finest .22 caliber lever-action rifles ever produced. Its enduring design and performance have made it a favorite among shooting enthusiasts and collectors alike.? Please see our photos and good luck on your bid! – L.S.
