Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some fouling present. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with a few light scratches and dings scattered throughout the metal surfaces. The bluing is deep and dark throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the half-cock safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the leather sling as mentioned above.

Our Assessment:The Marlin Model 375 was introduced in 1980 as a powerful, short-action lever rifle built to chamber the then-new .375 Winchester cartridge. Manufactured in North Haven, Connecticut and built on Marlin’s proven side-ejecting 336-type action, the Model 375 combined traditional lever-gun handling with modern big-bore performance. Production lasted only a short time in the early 1980s, making these rifles increasingly desirable among collectors and hunters who appreciate this transitional era of Marlin development. The Micro-Groove barrel and solid-top receiver—drilled and tapped for optics—reflect Marlin’s focus on practical field performance and versatility.

The .375 Winchester cartridge, introduced in 1978 as a modern high-pressure evolution of the .38-55, is capable of driving a 200-grain bullet at approximately 2,200 feet per second. In a compact 20″ carbine like this, it provides excellent energy for medium to large game within typical woods ranges. This rifle retains approximately 95% of its original blued finish, with only light scratches and scattered handling marks visible on the metal surfaces. The bluing remains deep and dark, the markings are clear and legible, and the screw heads are sharp. The two-piece walnut stocks show light to moderate wear, including scattered dings, scratches, and a few small areas of finish loss on the buttstock and bottom of the forend. There are no chips or cracks, and the stocks fit tightly to the frame. Overall, the stocks rate in Good condition.

The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, showing only minor fouling; in this writer’s opinion, it rates 9/10. The action functions correctly, including the half-cock safety, and a mechanical check has been performed, though we did not fire the rifle. The rifle includes a leather sling as noted. With its strong bore, high remaining finish, and relatively limited production period, this Marlin Model 375 represents an increasingly collectible big-bore lever action with practical hunting capability.
