Markings: The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / * * * * MOD. 1895CB CAL. 45/70 GOVT. * * * *” and is marked with the “JM” proof at the receiver. The right shoulder of the barrel is marked with Marlin’s two-lined warning. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number.
Barrel Length: 26″, Octagonal
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a tall brass beaded blade that is dovetailed to the top of the receiver. The rear sight is a semi-buckhorn elevator sight with a reversible V/U-notched leaf that has a white diamond aim guide and is dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped in four places for mounting a scope.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth walnut with a capped forearm, straight grip, straight comb, checkered black hard rubber Marlin buttplate, and Marlin “bullseye” in the belly. There are some tiny marks on the right of the buttstock. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate shows no notable wear or damage. Overall, the stocks are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is a faint mark here and there. The action shows faint operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly and smoothly. The lever safety is present and functions properly. The receiver also contains a push safety that blocks the hammer from hitting the pin. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in its serial matching box with an Uncle Mike’s brown ventilated stock sleeve recoil pad, a lever safety lock, and a hammer extension. The box shows edge wear and is taped on the front edge. There is a minor tear in the back left. The box rates in about Good condition. All other accessories are in Excellent condition.
