Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON / .38 S & W SPL. +P”. The left side of the frame is marked with the trade mark S&W monogram logo, the sideplate also has an S&W monogram and is also marked “Airweight”. The right side of the frame is marked “SPFLD, MA / S&W U.S.A.”. The crane cut is marked with the model number, the crane and sides of the grip frame are marked with inspection marks. The butt is marked with the serial number. The backstrap is marked with eleven stars. The cylinder has a Confederate Battle flag motif. The grips each have a Confederate Battle flag motif in color.
Barrel Length: 1 7/8″, Nominal 2″
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramp integral to the barrel rib. The rear sight is a square notch before a U-channel in the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are imitation ivory with S&W medallions and Confederate Battle Flag motifs in color. There are a few light handling marks, no major defects. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the Electro Chemically Machined rifling is strong. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are a few light handling marks. There is a turn line on the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The double-action trigger pull is smooth. The cylinder has light side-to-side movement with the trigger depressed. We did not fire this handgun. The cylinder lockup is solid with virtually no play on all chambers. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a serial matching box, paperwork including the manual, and test fired brass.
Our Assessment: This is a very light double action only S&W Model 642-2 in .38 Special, weighing in at approximately 15 Oz. (unloaded) great for carry, back up carry, home defense, you name it. Surprisingly, one of the most iconic brands from Massachusetts, a Northern state, produced this Rebel edition 642 Lew Horton, another Massachusetts-based company. The Lew Horton edition Rebel 642-2 features Confederate Battle Flag motifs on the cylinder and grips. The backstrap is adorned with eleven stars, each one for each state that seceded from the Union. Fittingly, the finish on this is a flat gray. This one has seen hardly any use and if not for the turn line on the cylinder, one might think this “Johnny Rev” is brand new.
