Johnson made no attempt at the factory to use matching part numbers (page 251). The face of the barrel collar is marked “.30-06” on top and “41” on the bottom. The buttplate shows small light scrapes. The wood shows scrapes, small scratches and compression marks. Most of the marks are near the magazine. These marks have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine overall condition.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. Surface erosion shows through the new finish on the barrel, rear sight and rear tang of the receiver. The left side of the magazine has patches of surface erosion and a small dent showing through the new finish. The metal shows scuffs and a few light scrapes. The screw heads show light use. The markings on the right rear of the receiver are faded. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition as refinished.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with an unmarked green canvas sling. It shows a few compression marks on the canvas as well as scrapes on the metal. Overall it is in about Fine condition.

Our Assessment: This Rare Johnson Automatics Model 1941 is in nice shape for a Military Rifle of its age. It is over 70 years old and still retains most of its metal markings. The stampings on the metal parts tell a story about the rifle. They include a Dutch acceptance mark. The rifle has been refinished so it looks nice. A limited number of these rifles were used by American troops during WWII and are prized by collectors.
