Our Assessment: This is a beautifully made B.C. Miroku over/under shotgun, manufactured in Japan between 1963 and 1968 and imported by Charles Daly, one of the most respected names in quality sporting arms. Miroku, known for its exceptional craftsmanship and later association with Browning, built this shotgun during the golden age of Japanese double gun manufacturing. What makes this example particularly desirable is its two-barrel set, offering both 26-inch skeet/skeet barrels for close-range clays and 30-inch full/improved modified barrels for longer-range trap or field shooting—delivering versatility for any shooting sport or bird hunting scenario. This shotgun features a single selective inertial trigger, engraved boxlock receiver, and finely checkered walnut furniture with a removable forend and semi-pistol grip stock. The wood shows some scattered surface wear and minor finish bubbling, and there is a repaired crack in the forend and a chip repair at the rear of the receiver, but the stock remains solid and serviceable. The bores on both barrel sets are bright, rating 9.5/10 and 9/10, respectively. The action is tight, with no movement between the barrels and receiver, and the mechanics function correctly.
Whether you’re a collector of Charles Daly imports, a shotgun enthusiast looking for a high-quality double with interchangeable barrels, or a shooter seeking Japanese craftsmanship at a great value, this Miroku O/U is an outstanding find. It comes complete with a fitted fabric-lined luggage case, and is C&R eligible, making it even more attractive to collectors. -R.E.
