Our Assessment: This 1944 Izhevsk M91/30 is presented in a sniper configuration with a mounted PU optic, reflecting the classic wartime Soviet precision setup used extensively during the latter years of the Second World War. The Izhevsk triangle-with-arrow marking and 1944 barrel date place this rifle squarely in the final year of major wartime production, when sniper rifles played a critical role on the Eastern Front. The attached PU scope with hammer and sickle marking and period-style mount give the rifle the unmistakable silhouette associated with Soviet sniper arms of the era. Several components show signs of force matching, and some markings have been lined out or restamped, consistent with Soviet arsenal refurbishment practices. The circle “C” sniper proof is not clearly visible, and the barrel may be a sniper barrel, though proof marks are indistinct.
This rifle presents in fair to good overall condition with approximately 94 percent of its arsenal-refinished bluing remaining. The metal surfaces show handling wear, scattered oxidation, and typical postwar refurbishment characteristics. The bore is gray with defined rifling, moderate erosion, and light pitting. The two-piece stock shows honest service wear, including compression marks and finish loss, yet remains structurally intact. The PU scope remains clear with light cosmetic wear to its finish. Overall, this 1944 Izhevsk M91/30 in sniper configuration stands as a historically styled example reflecting wartime production and postwar Soviet refurbishment practices, with force-matched components consistent with arsenal history.
