Our Assessment: Sniper-configured Mosin-Nagant rifles like this 1944 Izhevsk PU occupy a special place in WWII small-arms history, representing the Red Army’s deadly and highly effective marksmanship doctrine that produced legends such as Vasily Zaitsev and Lyudmila Pavlichenko. Built during the final year of the war, this example shows the expected wartime machining marks and arsenal refurbishment traits but still retains strong matching numbers throughout. The rifle shows honest service wear with thinning blue and wood finish loss on the forend, yet remains mechanically sound with a bore rating about 6.5/10, typical of rifles that saw use but were later arsenal-preserved. The PU scope is clear, making this a desirable and increasingly scarce sniper configuration as original wartime-marked rifles continue to rise in both rarity and historical value. This example would make a solid addition to any WWII sniper collection or Eastern Front display. Please see our photos and good luck with your bid! -N.P
