Markings: The lockplate is marked “H / 1859″ in front of the hammer, “200” behind. The left of the barrel is marked “200”, the top has “FM” in oval, “H”, and “IL”. The barrel tang is marked “200”. The left of the stock is marked “200”, “FM” in oval, “IL” and “1859”. The front of the buttcap has “290831” hand-scribed.
Barrel Length: 9 1/2”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass blade fixed to the barrel about 1 1/4″ from the muzzle. The rear sight is a “U”-notch integral to the barrel tang.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece walnut with brass band, butt-cap, guard and steel stock bar/belt hook. The band’s spring-clip does not properly retain the band, it can be pulled off without pushing on the spring-clip. There are some scattered nicks, dings, scuffs and scratches, most notable a scratch on the right behind the lockplate. There are a few minor losses along the edges of the ramrod hole. The brass fixtures show similar wear. Overall, the stock is in about Very Good condition as Antique.
Type of Finish: Originally finished Bright, some areas show cold-blue.
Finish Originality: The cold-blue is not original
Bore Condition: There is some erosion and scabbing at the muzzle-end, but the rear portion of the bore is brighter with faint erosion. There is some dried grease visible in the very rear of the bore.
Overall Condition: The lockplate, hammer, safety and barrel tang show some discoloration from cold-blue use. The barrel shows some scraping. There is scattered discoloration from oxidation. There are some nicks, scuffs and scratches. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings range from clear to worn, but legible. Overall, this pistol is in about Very Good-plus condition as Antique.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a safety lever behind the hammer which can be engaged in a notch on the rear of the hammer to prevent it from striking a cap on the nipple. The mainspring is strong and the hammer has a safety-notch position. The flash-hole is not obstructed. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: A ramrod is stored under the barrel, retained by a pivoting link at the muzzle on the bottom. The rod shows patina and wear similar to the pistol, in about Very Good condition.
