Our Assessment: This contemporary flintlock rifle by H. L. Dangleo carries forward the styling and spirit of the refined American longrifles that emerged in the late 18th century, with a full-length barrel, browned finish, and brass-mounted walnut stock shaped around a cheek piece and traditional lockwork. The .52 caliber bore reflects the mid-caliber round balls favored during the flint era for their balance of power and efficiency, a lineage that reaches back to the rifles carried across the Appalachians and into the early frontier. With its bright rifling, crisp forward-set trigger, and well-preserved overall condition, the rifle presents the clean lines and tactile presence of a carefully executed modern interpretation of a classic form.
