Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “28 GA. FOR 2 ¾ OR SHORTER SHELLS” and “FULL”. The right side of the barrel is marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC. ILION, N.Y. — MADE IN U.S.A.” above a collection of patent numbers and has a series of inspection marks. The left side of the receiver is marked “Remington Model 1100 LW” and has the serial number. The left and right sides of the frame and bolt are scroll engraved. The right of the receiver is marked “SKEET”.

Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a white bead at the muzzle on a full-length ventilated. The rib and top of the receiver have a wavy pattern for glare reduction.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with fleur di lis accents, a capped pistol grip, fluted straight comb, and aftermarket black rubber buttpad. There are some little nicks, scratches, and scuffs. The longest scratch is on the right of the butt. The highest concentration of defects is on the bottom of the forend at the rear and on the left of the stock down by the belly. There are no chips or cracks. The buttstock has a little rotational movement and the stock screws likely just need to be tightened. The checkering is intact. The LOP measures 13 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the wood and 14 3/4” to the buttpad. The pad shows some light wear but is still supple. The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some little nicks and scratches through the finish, most noticeable on the receiver and bottom of the barrel. There is some thinning on the edge of the muzzle. The bolt handle has some thinning from use. The markings are clear. The pinheads are unmarred. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a signed letter from the Hilton trust listing this gun by serial number.
Our Assessment: This shotgun comes from the estate of William Barron Hilton (October 23, 1927 – September 19, 2019) who was an American businessman, philanthropist, and sportsman. The son of Conrad Hilton, Mr. Hilton was most known for his position as the chairman, president and chief executive officer of the Hilton Hotels Corporation started by his father Conrad Hilton, and for his ownership of the now Los Angeles Chargers. Designed by Wayne Leek and R. Kelley, the Remington Model 1100 was introduced in 1963 as a successor to the model 58 and 878 gas operated shotguns. The Model 58s had supplanted the recoil operated Model 11-48, which retained the long recoil action of John Browning’s original design, present in the Remington Model 11 and the Auto-5. All models of the 1100 are gas operated with a mechanism that noticeably reduces recoil. Several variations of the Model 1100, in 12, 20, and 28 gauges, and .410 bore are still in production as of 2021. The Remington Model 1100 ushered in the era of successful and reliable gas-actuated autoloading shotguns, and it is the best selling autoloading shotgun in U.S. history. The Model 1100 holds a record for shells fired out of an autoloading shotgun without malfunction, cleaning or parts breakage with a record of over 24,000 rounds. The record was set in 1978 with a Remington model 1100 LT-20. Breaking this record has been attempted with several other models of semi-auto shotguns with no luck. This shotgun has a 25″ .410 bore barrel with a fixed choke, 2 1/2″ chamber, and a blue finish. It is in Fine condition and is ready to go dust some clays or drop some birds!
