Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number. The right side of the chamber is marked “H. Lawson Co. 650 / Cal. 300 Win. Mag.”. The bolt is matched and marked “8153”. The nose of the stock is stamped “H. LAWSON”.
Barrel Length: 20″, 22″ to Muzzle Brake
Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. There are two blindly filled holes on the top of the barrel at the rear. The left side of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled holes. The top of the receiver is installed with a one-piece base and a pair of rings holding a Burris 2-7x scope. The scope has a couple of faint marks. The scope has a duplex reticle and the glass is clear. The scope rates in about Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is checkered maple with a thumbole grip, grip cap, nose cap, cheekpiece, decorative oak leaf carvings, and a ventilated rubber buttpad. There is some minor finish wear on the bottom of the grip cap at the front. There are a few scattered light handling marks. The checkering is intact and strong. The LOP measures 13 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber buttpad. The pad has some light wear. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is scattered light handling wear. There are a few little areas of light surface oxidation and light pinprick erosion, they are most noticeable on the barrel at the front and on the right side towards the chamber. There are light handling marks and standard operational wear. The screw heads are sharp to tool marked. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Remington 700 needs no introduction, it has been one of the most popular bolt action rifles in America for decades, seeing use in target shooting, hunting, and in law enforcement. Remington had been producing sporting rifles for decades, but their Post-WWI Model 30 Sporter took too much time & money to make and required too much milling. After WWII they designed the Model 721 which used a receiver made of bar stock, meaning it could be turned on a lathe, cutting production time & cost. The basic design of the 721 went through further developments under the direction of engineer Mike Walker, and Remington went on to produce the Model 722 and Model 725, and finally, in 1962, the Model 700 was born. With the design, Walker desired to increase accuracy over previous designs so tight bore & chamber tolerances, a short leade, and fast lock time were used. Since its inception in 1962, it has been produced in just about any caliber and configuration you could think of. If it hasn’t there are custom parts and gunsmiths out there to get it exactly how you like. The 700 has also been the basis of many custom rifles like this one. This is a Harry Lawson model 650. The rifle is build on a 700 receiver and has a 22″ barrel with a muzzle brake, action job, new crossbolt safety, polished bolt handle, jeweled bolt, a new cover on the rear of the bolt, and most notably a custom stock. The maple stock is truly a beauty and has crisp checkering with carved oak leaf accents. This is a really sharp looking rifle and would make a nice addition to any safe in America.
