Markings: The left of the barrel is marked “U.S. MODEL 1873 / CAL. 45-70 GOVT.” and “P”. The left side of the frame is marked “H&R”. The top of the breech block is marked “U.S. / MODEL / 1873”. The lockplate is marked with the U.S. Eagle and “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD”. The right side of the frame is marked “SER. NO. 9426”. The right side of the barrel is marked “HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON, INC. / WORCESTER, MASS. MADE IN U.S.A.”. The lockplate, hammer, breech block lever, top of the breech block, trigger guard, top tang, top of the breech block, top of the frame, and top of the barrel band have scroll engraving. The top of the buttplate is marked “U.S.” and has scrolls.

Barrel Length: 26″

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded brass beaded blade that is dovetailed to a serrated ramped riser which is screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is a Lyman flip-up U-notch leaf that is adjustable for elevation. The tang sight is a flip-up peep aperture adjustable for windage and elevation loosening the wheel.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut with a straight grip, straight comb, and a steel carbine-style butt plate. The belly is stamped with a cartouche. There are some dings, draglines, and small scratches throughout with the most notable being on the left of the forend between the receiver and trigger. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering has a few nicked peaks but is mainly sharp. The LOP measures 13 1/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate shows light scrapes at the heel and toe. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good-Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp & deep rifling. There is no

erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The metal shows only light handling marks. The cose coloring is strong. There are a few light nicks on the hood of the front sight. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Fine-Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has quarter and half-cock safety positions. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: A cleaning rod comes installed under the barrel.
