Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger, which is adjustable, is extremely light and crisp. Once the action is closed and locked via a lever at the bottom of the grip, a second lever on the left side of the receiver is used to set the trigger. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a Hammerli range case with green fabric-lined interior, stand for the pistol and lidded accessory compartment. In the compartment is a small tin holding the replacement front sight, some small screws and springs, and there is a leaf spring with roller included. The case has scattered wear from storage and transport, in about Good-Very Good condition.
Our Assessment:The ISSF 50 meter pistol competition was formerly and is still unofficially often called “free pistol”. It is the purest precision shooting among the pistol events, and is one of the oldest shooting types, dating back to the 19th century and only having seen marginal rule changes since 1936. The pistol used must be in caliber .22 Long Rifle ammunition, may only be loaded with one round at a time, and have conventional “open” or “iron” sights (i.e. optical and laser sights are not allowed). It must also be held and operated by one hand, and not supported by any other part of the shooter’s body. Apart from that, there are practically no rules for the pistol. This is a Haemmerli model 100 free pistol, complete with Hammerli range case. The pistol has a pivoting breechblock controlled by a lever sticking out of the bottom of the grip and a separate lever for setting the trigger. As currently adjusted, the trigger is extraordinarily light and crisp. The pistol is in about Fine condition with about 97% of its metal finish remaining. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. If you are looking for the ultimate in accuracy out of a single shot target pistol, you shouldn’t have to look any farther. The trigger breaks so lightly all you have to do is breath on it. Hammerli has been making some of the finest target pistols in the world for the better part of a century and this pistol has that old-world quality of 1950s Swiss manufacturing. Please see our photos and good luck!
