Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In  this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light handling wear, with a few light superficial scratches and imperfections scattered throughout the metal surfaces. The matte blued finish is deep and dark throughout. There is no operational wear on the bolt or the friction surfaces of the action. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine to Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. The factory 2-Stage trigger has a crisp and clean break. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with a Sig Sauer plastic hard case, owner’s manual/paperwork, factory test target featuring its tight 3-shot group before the rifle was sent out of the factory, a cleaning kit, allen wrenches, and the two magazines as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: Developed in the 1990s as a purpose-built precision system for European police and military marksmen, the German-made SSG 3000 quickly gained a reputation for mechanical consistency, modularity, and exceptional out-of-the-box accuracy. Built around a massive cylindrical receiver, a quick-change hammer-forged barrel, and a match-grade two-stage trigger, the platform was designed from the outset to deliver repeatable precision under any operational condition. By the time this 2013 BD-coded example left Eckernförde, the SSG 3000 had firmly established itself as one of the premier tactical bolt guns of its era, widely referenced for its robust build and its ability to hold tight groups over prolonged service life.

Chambered in .308 Winchester, the rifle sits squarely within the cartridge’s long tradition as a precision and service round. Introduced in the 1950s and quickly adopted as 7.62 NATO, .308 Win. carved out a dual reputation, flat enough for meaningful distance, yet predictable and forgiving enough to serve as a global standard for military and law-enforcement marksmanship. In a match-grade system like the SSG 3000, the cartridge’s mild recoil, availability, and inherently consistent performance lend themselves perfectly to precision roles, from formal competition to professional sniper work.

This particular SSG 3000 presents in outstanding condition, with its matte blued metalwork showing only the faintest handling marks and a pristine bore aligned with its included factory test target. The composite stock retains its full rigidity and adjustability, including the comb and LOP spacers, and both factory magazines remain sharp and clean. The overall impression is of a rifle that has seen very little, if any, field time and retains the mechanical tightness and precision that made the SSG 3000 a benchmark rifle in its class. It is an exceptional example for shooters, collectors of modern precision arms, or anyone seeking one of the last German-built Sig precision rifles before production shifted away from Europe.
