Markings: There is no visible import mark.  The top of the receiver is marked with a German inspection stamp “eagle / 135”, “byf” and “44”. The left side of the receiver is marked with a Nazi “eagle / swastika”, with the serial number, a “script letter” and “Mod. 98”.  The right side of the receiver is marked with an “eagle / 135” inspection stamp. The left side of the barrel shank and top of the bolt handle are marked with the serial number; these 2 marks appear to have been restamped. The bottom of the bolt handle is marked “1”. The rear of the bolt assembly is marked with a faded “eagle” inspection stamp and with a number that does not correlate to the serial number. The left side of the rear sight base is marked with 3 “eagle / 77” inspection stamps. The bottom metal is marked with 2 “eagle / 135” inspection stamps and with numbers that do not correlate to the serial number. The left side of the butt is marked with a “circled UA” stamping and with a number that does not correlate to the serial number. The right side of the butt is marked with faded stampings that include an “eagle” Waffenamt. The interior of the sling is marked “2804-02524-Y”. The buckle is marked with what resembles a “circled V”.

Barrel Length: Approximately 23 ¾ Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post set atop a small ramped base and under a protective hood.  The rear sight is a “V” notched blade attached to a sliding sight escalator assembly marked from “1-20”.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The laminate stock has a pistol grip, metal nose cap, hole for the included cleaning rod, barrel band with sling bar, scallop for the bolt handle, through bolt, slingwell, sling pass through, domed washer and a metal buttplate. The buttplate shows scrapes and discoloration from oxidation. The wood shows several scrapes, scratches, and compression marks that have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original to Rebuild

Bore Condition: The bore is bright; semi bright at the muzzle. The rifling is deep. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The bottom metal has been treated with cold blue. The metal shows scrapes, small scratches and discoloration from oxidation. The rear sight base shows surface erosion. The bottom metal shows tool marks and pin prick surface erosion. The screws show use. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with an Israeli K98 sling that shows various scuffs & small scrapes. It is in about Fine condition.
