Markings: The import mark on the barrel reads “K98 GERMANY 8MM / C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT.”. The top of the receiver is marked “eagle / 135”, “byf”, and “44”. The left side of the receiver is marked with a Nazi “eagle / swastika”, with the serial number, and “Mod. 98”. The right side of the receiver is marked with an “eagle / 135” inspection stamp. The left side barrel shank is marked with a Nazi “eagle / swastika” and “44D”. The bolt assembly and other metal parts are marked with numbers that do not correlate to the serial number. The buttplate is marked “brg”. The bottom metal is marked with an “eagle / 214” inspection stamp and 2 other small stampings. The leather sling loop is marked “2809-7013”.
Barrel Length: Approximately 23 ¾ Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post set atop a ramped base. The rear sight is a “V” notched blade attached to a sliding escalator assembly marked from “1-20”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The laminate stock has a pistol grip, nose cap with bayonet lug, hole for the missing cleaning rod, barrel band with sling bar, scallop for the bolt handle, through bolt, slingwell, sling pass through, domed washer, and a metal buttplate. The buttplate shows scrapes, scratches,and surface erosion. The nosecap & barrel band show scrapes, scratches, and discoloration from oxidation. The stock shows numerous scrapes, scratches and compression marks. Several have damaged or removed small portions of the wood. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original to Rebuild
Bore Condition: The muzzle and grooves are dark. The rifling is deep; less pronounced at the muzzle. There erosion throughout the bore; more prominent in the grooves and at the muzzle.
Overall Condition: This rifle has lost most of its metal finish. The replacement magazine floorplate retains its blue finish. The metal shows scrapes, scratches, discoloration from oxidation and light surface erosion. The screw heads show use. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action function correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a brown leather sling. It shows scrapes, discoloration, and light surface loss on the leather. The buckle shows scrapes & oxidation. Overall it is in about Very Good condition.
Our Assessment: This WWII Nazi German K98 was made at the Mauser Oberndorf factory in Germany back in 1944. It has since been rebuilt but retains many WWII markings. The markings including 2 Nazi “eagle / swastika” stamps. This K98 looks good and can still do work out at the range.
