Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “FREEDOM ARMS .454 CASULL / FREEDOM, WYOMING U.S.A.”. The left side of the frame is marked “PAT.4126953”. The bottom of the frame is marked “DF 5309”. The rear face of the cylinder is marked “DF 5 3 0 9”. The right side of the grip frame is lightly hand inscribed “91201-124” and the left side is hand scribed “DF5309”. The right side of the frame is marked “FREEDOM ARMS / FIELD GRADE”.
Barrel Length: 7 1/2″ Mag-na-port
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade set on a smooth ramped base fixed to the barrel. The front sight is secured with an allen head at the front of the base. The rear sight is a flat-topped square notch sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation and is in a base that is screwed to the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a checkered black rubber Pachmayr grip with smooth borders and medallions. There are some light handling marks. There are no rips or tears. The grip rates in about Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are a few little scuffs that have caused smooth spots, most noticeable on the barrel towards the front and on the sides of the frame below the cylinder window. There are a few little nicks and scratches, the most noticeable are on the ejector rod housing and barrel at the muzzle. There are some scattered light marks and draglines. There is a faint turn line on the cylinder. There is operational wear on the hammer and trigger. The screw heads are sharp to lightly worn. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup is solid. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a serial matching box, paperwork including a manual, and 5 .45 Colt snap caps.
Our Assessment: Freedom Arms makes what are probably the highest quality single-action revolvers in the world, and this single action Model 83 Field Grade revolver is no exception. The action and trigger pull are exceptional. The lockup is solid and the build quality is unparalleled. The stainless finish with the unfluted cylinder is very appealing to the eye as well as functional in being nearly impervious to the elements. This example has a 7 1/2? Mag-na-ported barrel, adjustable sights and is chambered for the powerful .454 Casull cartridge.
