Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “FREEDOM ARMS MODEL 353 .357 MAG. / * FREEDOM, WYOMING U.S.A. *”. The left side of the frame is marked “PAT. NO. 4126953”. The bottom of the frame is marked “H 0344”. The rear face of the cylinder is marked “H 0344”. The right side of the frame is marked “FREEDOM ARMS / PREMIER GRADE”.

Barrel Length: 4 3/4”, factory Mag-na-Port

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade and is set on a smooth ramped base fixed to the barrel. The front sight is secured with an allen head at the front of the base. The rear sight is a flat-topped square notch sight and is adjustable for windage and elevation in a base screwed to the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece laminate wood. The right panel has some scuffing at the top-front and a light scratch on the bottom face. The left panel has only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Fine condition.

Type of Finish: Stainless Steel

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few minor scratches and tiny nicks, most notable on the barrel around the front sight. There is minor operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup is solid. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a serial matching blue box with test target and five snap-caps.

Our Assessment: Freedom Arms makes what are probably the highest quality single action revolvers in the world, and this single action Model 353 Premier Grade revolver is no exception. The action and trigger pull are exceptional. The lockup is solid with hardly noticeable movement. The stainless finish with the unfluted cylinder is very appealing to the eye as well as functional in being nearly impervious to the elements. This example has a 4 3/4? barrel with factory Mag-na-Port, factory action job, adjustable sights and is chambered for the popular .357 Magnum cartridge.
