Our Assessment: This FN PS90 is the civilian-legal carbine variant of Fabrique Nationale Herstal’s innovative P90 personal defense weapon platform, adapted to meet U.S. barrel length requirements while retaining the distinctive bullpup layout. Manufactured by FN and marked for both Belgium and Columbia, South Carolina, this example reflects FN’s direct involvement in bringing the design to the commercial market. The PS90 maintains the signature top-mounted magazine system and fully ambidextrous controls that made the original P90 notable for compactness and ergonomic efficiency. Chambered in 5.7x28mm, the PS90 utilizes a high-velocity, small-caliber cartridge originally developed for modern personal defense weapon applications. The 5.7mm cartridge is known for flat trajectory, low recoil, and high magazine capacity in a compact format. In the PS90 platform, the closed-bolt blowback system offers reliable semi-automatic operation, while the 16 inch barrel paired with the integral flash hider brings the overall length to approximately 18.5 inches. The full-length top rail with integrated peep and front post allows for immediate use with iron sights or the mounting of optics to suit user preference.
Conditionally, this example presents in excellent overall shape, retaining approximately 99 percent or better of its original finish with only faint handling marks visible. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no visible erosion, earning a full 10 out of 10 rating and appearing unfired outside of factory testing. The black polymer bullpup stock shows no notable wear or defects, and the inclusion of four 50-round FN P90 magazines enhances its appeal and completeness. Taken together, this FN PS90 offers a well-preserved and highly recognizable example of one of the most distinctive modern PDW-style carbines available on the civilian market. -R.E.
