Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “CAL. 22 LR MADE IN FINLAND” and features a crowned lion proof mark. The left side of the receiver is marked “SAKO P94S” and features the serial number “231546” and another crowned lion proof mark. The bottom of the plastic box magazine is marked “FINLAND / SAKO”. The right side of the barrel is marked “WARNING” with two additional lines. The bolt is marked “546”.

Sights/ Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver has scope rings mounted, holding a Leupold VARI X 3×9 Compact scope.
Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stock is a one-piece checkered, satin-finish walnut fluted Monte Carlo stock with a raise comb and cheekpiece, pistol grip and two sling swivel studs. The LOP measures approximately 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber buttpad. There are no chips or cracks. There is one scratch on the right rear of the butt. The walnut stock is in Excellent condition with some minor storage marks and very limited signs of wear from use in the field.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and shiny. The rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates a 9/10.
Overall Condition: The rifle retains about 99% of its finish. There is standard operational wear to the bolt from use. The markings are clear. This rifle is in Excellent to Fine overall condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Sako P94S, also known as the Sako Finnfire, is a discontinued bolt-action .22 LR rimfire rifle manufactured by the Finnish company Sako starting in 1996. It was known for its accuracy and robust action for a rimfire rifle and was available in Hunter, Varmint, and Range versions. The P94S is a popular choice for benchrest shooting and can be found on the secondhand market. The Finnfire was first launched in the Hunter version, which was followed by the larger Varmint version with a wider forend and heavier barrel. The even larger Range version was added later. All the versions came with walnut stocks and a free floating barrel. The Hunter version had the slimmest stock, while the Varmint version had a wider forend and a rubberized recoil pad, and the Range version stock was the heaviest stock intended for precision rifle shooting, but still became popular with some types of hunters. Only the Hunter version came with open sights, but it was not uncommon to remove those and instead attach a scope sight to the dovetail rail.
